Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water supplies, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was lost their life in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Russian forces has intensified assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while officials has called for "real steps" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty missiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, per statements from municipal representatives.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting fuel infrastructure.

He said utility staff and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
