Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected crossover event that defies usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Disclosed
According to the official announcement, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of banned rituals and terrifying changes resonate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret sect.
The questline focuses on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Content
This release also introduces the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
